How to play & FAQ

Everything you need to win the Arena.

How do I win a match?

A match is 6 turns across 3 locations. Each turn both sides place cards face-down and reveal at the same time. The side with more total Strength at a location wins it. Win 2 of the 3 locations to win the match. If you each take one and tie one, total board Strength is the tiebreaker.

How does Energy work?

You get Energy equal to the turn number: 1 on turn 1, up to 6 on turn 6. Every card has an Energy cost; play as many as your Energy allows. Unused Energy doesn't carry over. A card you can't afford is greyed out - you can still tap it to read its ability, but you can't drag it onto the board.

How do I place and undo cards?

Drag a card from your hand onto a location to play it - placing is drag-only. Tap any card instead to open its full profile. To take a staged card back before the turn resolves, drag it off the board, or drag it to a different location to move it. Press End Turn when you're done.

Is there a turn timer?

Yes. You have 60 seconds per turn, shown as the bar directly under your Energy orb. When it runs out your turn is submitted automatically with whatever you've staged, so games never stall. In Versus, an opponent who goes silent is timed out server-side.

What are card abilities?

On Reveal fires once when the card flips. Some set up a next-turn condition (John Pork, Dogwifhat) or react to this turn's plays (Punch, Pepe). Ongoing applies continuously while in play (Doge makes your other Ongoing effects at his location apply twice). Game Start works from your deck the moment the match begins (Michi scouts the hidden locations, Moodeng starts in your opening hand). Cards have no rarity - just Energy and Strength.

What do locations do?

There are 8 locations and three are drawn each match, revealing over the first 3 turns. Each has its own effect - LARP Garage gives cards there +4 Strength, Normie Room gives -2, Backrooms pays whoever is winning it +1 Energy a turn, Trenches blocks cheap cards, and GameStop stops you playing there two turns in a row. Adapt your plays to them.

Versus or Training Ground?

Versus is real PvP against another player and the only mode that pays out - it needs a connected wallet. If no opponent turns up within about a minute you drop into a rewarded match against a bot instead. Training Ground is free practice against a bot at three difficulties: no Coins, no trophies, no risk.

Coins, Gems, and MEMEARENA?

Coins are the only currency you win by playing - 100 for a win and 10 for a loss, scaled by your rank multiplier and win streak. Spend them on card packs. Gems are never awarded; they're bought in the Shop and also buy packs. MEMEARENA is the on-chain token - it isn't a per-win drop but a leaderboard prize (see below). A game first; rewards are a bonus.

How do I unlock more cards?

You begin owning nothing. Open the free one-time Starter Pack for a fixed set of 12 cards, which is auto-equipped as your first deck. The rest of the 29-card pool comes only from Shop card packs (500 Coins or 50 Gems for one random card you don't own yet - never a duplicate). Cards are not dropped for winning. Decks are 10-12 cards, and you need at least 10 to play.

How do ranks and trophies work?

A win earns a fixed number of trophies for your current rank (30 at Paperhands up to 50 at Meme Lord); a loss costs a flat 20 at every rank. Forfeiting a Versus match counts as a loss. Climb the ladder from Paperhands through Degen, Ape, Chad and Whale to Meme Lord. Your rank also sets a Coins multiplier. Seasons reset monthly.

How are token prizes paid out?

The top 10 of the daily and weekly trophy-gain leaderboards win MEMEARENA prizes, sent manually to their wallet. The boards run on CET calendar windows - daily resets at 00:00 Europe/Berlin, weekly on Monday. There is no claim button: prizes are sent by hand after each reset, and rewards are always capped, validated server-side, and never guaranteed.

Do I need a wallet?

For Training Ground, no - play as a guest with progress saved locally. For Versus, yes: token prizes are paid to wallets, so matchmaking asks you to connect one first. MemeArena runs on Solana - any Solana wallet works (Phantom, Solflare, …), and we sign you in with a message signature, never a transaction.

MemeArena is a game. Rewards are not guaranteed and are subject to validation and caps. Nothing here is financial advice.
